About Us

Tranquility Beach are a duo from Bishop’s Stortford, HertfordshireFusing powerful soul vocals with overdriven guitar and percussion, the band is bringing an exciting new sound to the blues and roots scene. The band’s influences include Wolf Alice, Sharon Van Etten, John Butler Trio, Ben Harper, Xavier Rudd, Bon Iver and Angus Stone.

Molly & Ben began their songwriting journey in 2021 and are currently working on their debut album which they are recording in their makeshift home studio.  They are excited to be working in collaboration with gold and platinum producer Al Scott who has worked with the likes of David Gray and The Clash's Joe Strummer. Their second single from the album - Poor Little Rich Girl - is set for release on 25th August 2023.

Tranquility Beach's live sets typically start with their punchy debut single, Only One - an atmospheric song about humanity's often problematic relationship with nature - Led by Molly's powerful vocals and backed by Ben's overdriven lap steel. Although just two musicians,  the duo create a big, raw live sound out of a more limited collection of instruments. "Most of our tracks are built from percussion loops and big 'in-your-face' guitars, which create the stage for Molly's incredible voice" Ben explains. "We find that people first see us and are interested initially in my guitar as I'm playing with it lying on my lap and you don't see too many lap steel players round here. Then what really knocks them off their feet is Molly's voice".

As well as gigging locally in Hertfordshire and London, the band has opened the show for a small UK festival to an audience of several thousand 2 years in a row. Molly's songwriting and vocal style has also gained recognition on BBC Introducing East with a solo side project.
